There are three main reasons you would want to get the EasyBCD application and use it on your machine. One reason is that you want a means of tweaking the Windows bootloader – you can do precisely that with EasyBCD. The second reason is that you don’t want to go through a steep learning curve – EasyBCD, as it’s name points out, is quite easy to use. And the third reason is that you don’t want to part with your money – EasyBCD is freeware.

The EasyBCD installation file weighs in at a mere 1.5MB; a download of this size will only take a moment to complete. The setup wizard that takes you through the installation process asks if you want a desktop shortcut and prompts you to select the installation directory. Just like the download, the installation process will complete quickly.

All the functionality offered by EasyBCD is grouped under buttons that are displayed on the left side of the application’s interface. There are buttons for viewing the settings, editing the boot menu, adding a new entry, and more to the left. Click a button and info based on what you click will be displayed in the window to the right.

With EasyBCD installed on your machine, you can set up dial boots between different versions of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system. Or you can set up dual-boots between Windows and Apple’s Mac OS X, or Windows and open-source operating system Linux. Besides setting up a dual boot, you can use this tool to add an entry to an old XP partition or to debug the Windows kernel.

As mentioned above, EasyBCD is freeware; you will not have to part with your money if you’re going to use the application for private, non-commercial purposes. You should part with your money if you like the application and want to support its development. Donations are welcome.

With the free EasyBCD tool, you can create dual-boots, view and change boot settings, back up and restore settings, add new entries to the bootloader, and more.

Pros

Takes little time to get and install EasyBCD on your Windows PC. EasyBCD is free for personal, non-commercial use. Easily create dual-boots, change the boot drive, create bootable USBs, change BCD timeout, back up and restore configurations.

Cons

I couldn’t think of any.
